Vicenza’s event calendar is shaped by three forces: the global jewellery industry (VicenzaOro), Palladian architecture (Settimana Palladiana), and the Veneto region’s deep agricultural traditions (sagre and harvest festivals). Here’s what’s on in 2026, month by month. For more detail, see our weather by month guide.
Vicenza Events & Festivals: January to March
VicenzaOro January (January 16-20, 2026)
Europe’s leading jewellery and watch trade fair fills the Fiera di Vicenza exhibition center (Via dell’Oreficeria 16) with 1,300+ exhibitors from 30 countries. This is a B2B event , not open to the general public , but it transforms the city. Every hotel, restaurant, and bar runs at capacity. If you’re visiting Vicenza during these dates and aren’t attending the fair, book accommodation 4+ months ahead or stay in Verona (25 minutes by train). Satellite events include public jewellery exhibitions at Palazzo Chiericati and the Museo del Gioiello (Jewellery Museum, Piazza dei Signori), which stays open late with special installations. The Museo del Gioiello (EUR 8, open Tuesday-Sunday 10:00-18:00) is worth visiting any time of year , it’s the only museum in Italy dedicated exclusively to jewellery. For more detail, see our best time to visit guide.
Carnevale di Vicenza (February, dates vary)
Vicenza’s Carnival is smaller than Venice’s (45 minutes away by train) but more authentically local. The main parade runs along Corso Palladio on the Sunday before Ash Wednesday, with costumed groups, floats, and confetti. Piazza dei Signori hosts children’s activities and food stalls selling frittelle (Venetian Carnival pastries filled with cream or raisins). Free. Many restaurants offer Carnival-themed set menus (EUR 30-45). For more detail, see our things to do in Vicenza.
Festa di San Giuseppe (March 19)
St. Joseph’s Day is celebrated across the Veneto with zeppole (fried dough pastries filled with custard) sold at temporary stalls in Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza dei Signori. Not a major event but a good day to sample seasonal pastries. For more detail, see our neighborhoods guide.
Vicenza Events & Festivals: April to June
Settimana Palladiana (Late May, exact dates TBC)
The Palladian Week is the best time for architecture enthusiasts. Over 7-8 days, private Palladian villas normally closed to the public open their doors for guided tours (EUR 5-15 per villa, some free with reservation). The program includes academic lectures in Italian and English at the Palladio Museum, evening concerts at Teatro Olimpico, and themed walking tours of the historic center. About 15-20 villas participate, including Villa Saraceno, Villa Pojana, and Villa Pisani at Bagnolo , all within 30km of Vicenza. Opera Season at Teatro Olimpico (June-July)
The summer opera season runs roughly June through July at Europe’s oldest indoor theatre. Typically 2-3 productions per season, with 4-6 performances each. Tickets range EUR 30-80 depending on seating. Past seasons have included Mozart, Monteverdi, and Verdi. Book through the Teatro Olimpico box office (Piazza Matteotti 11, +39 0444 964380) or vivaticket.it. The 2026 program is announced in April. For more detail, see our travel tips and FAQ.
Vicenza Jazz Festival (May)

The 2026 program is typically announced in March , check comune.vicenza.it.
Vicenza Events & Festivals: July to September
VicenzaOro September (September 4-8, 2026)
The autumn edition of VicenzaOro, identical in scale to the January fair. Same booking warning applies: hotels in central Vicenza sell out 3-4 months ahead. The September edition often coincides with better weather for outdoor satellite events, including jewellery exhibitions in the Basilica Palladiana upper hall.
Festa dei Oto (September 8)
Vicenza’s traditional city festival, dating to the 15th century. The name means “Feast of the Eight” in Venetian dialect, commemorating the eight days of celebrations that followed Vicenza’s dedication to the Madonna of Monte Berico after a plague ended. Today it’s a one-day event centered on the Santuario di Monte Berico. The covered arcade (Portici) fills with food and craft stalls, and a evening fireworks display lights up the hill. Free. The walk up the arcade becomes a social event, with families and groups stopping at makeshift bars set up along the route.
Vicenza Events & Festivals: October to December
Sagre Season (October-November)
October is sagre month across the Veneto. These are local food festivals, typically held in towns within 10-20km of Vicenza, celebrating seasonal harvests. Key sagre: Sagra del Tartufo (truffle festival) in Nanto (15km south, mid-October), Sagra della Castagna (chestnut festival) in Lusiana on the Asiago plateau (30km north, late October), and Festa dell’Olio Nuovo (new olive oil) in Barbarano Vicentino (12km south, early November). Each features stalls selling the star ingredient plus local wines, grilled meats, and polenta. Free entry; pay for what you eat. Check exact dates at comune.vicenza.it or local town websites 2-3 weeks ahead , they shift annually by 1-2 weeks depending on harvest timing.
Christmas Markets (Late November to December 24)
Vicenza’s Christmas market sets up in Piazza dei Signori from roughly the last week of November through December 24. About 40 wooden stalls sell crafts, decorations, and Veneto food products (cheeses, cured meats, panettone, mulled wine). Smaller than the famous markets in Verona or Trento, but the setting under the Basilica Palladiana loggia is hard to beat. Open daily 10:00-20:00. Free entry. The ice skating rink in Piazza Matteotti (EUR 8 including skate rental) runs the same dates. Combined, they make December evenings in Vicenza genuinely atmospheric without the crushing crowds of Venice’s Christmas season.
