Villa Florentine (25 Montee Saint-Barthelemy) is Lyon’s finest hotel, built in a former 17th-century convent on the Fourviere hillside. Rooms from 220 EUR with panoramic city views and a Michelin-starred restaurant (Les Terrasses de Lyon). The hotel has a heated outdoor pool open May to September. Hotel Carlton Lyon (4 Rue Jussieu, Presqu’ile) is a classic 4-star in a 19th-century building a block from Place de la Republique.
Rooms from 150 EUR. InterContinental Lyon Hotel Dieu (20 Quai Jules Courmont) occupies a wing of the grand 18th-century Hotel-Dieu hospital, renovated in 2019. Rooms from 250 EUR with soaring ceilings and a central courtyard bar. Even if not staying here, visit the courtyard for a drink at Le Dome bar.
Mid-Range Hotels in Vieux Lyon and Presqu’ile (90 to 180 EUR)
College Hotel (5 Place Saint-Paul, Vieux Lyon) is a design-forward hotel in a converted school with a rooftop terrace. Rooms from 120 EUR. The Saint-Paul location puts you on the quieter northern edge of Vieux Lyon. Hotel des Celestins (4 Rue des Archers, Presqu’ile) is a boutique 3-star on a pedestrian street near the Theatre des Celestins.
Rooms from 100 EUR. Hotel Silky by HappyCulture (2 Place Francisque Regaud, Presqu’ile) occupies a former silk workshop with rooms from 95 EUR. The breakfast room in the old workshop space is a highlight. OKKO Hotels Lyon Pont Lafayette (14 Rue du Professeur Weill, left bank near the Pont Lafayette bridge) is a modern 4-star with an all-day complimentary snack bar. Rooms from 130 EUR. It is a 10-minute walk to the Presqu’ile.
Budget Hotels Under 90 EUR
Hotel du Theatre (10 Rue de Savoie, Presqu’ile) is a 2-star with clean, compact rooms from 70 EUR on a quiet street near Place Bellecour. No elevator, and reception closes at 22:00. Ho36 Hostel (36 Rue Montesquieu, Guillotiere district on the left bank) is Lyon’s best hostel, with dorm beds from 25 EUR and private rooms from 70 EUR.
It is 15 minutes’ walk from the Presqu’ile across the Rhone. Away Hostel and Coffee Shop (21 Rue Alsace Lorraine, near Part-Dieu station) has dorm beds from 22 EUR and private rooms from 60 EUR. Clean, modern, and a 5-minute walk from Part-Dieu station, making it convenient for early TGV departures.
