La Noche de los Museos (Night of the Museums)
Early November (one Saturday, 8 PM to 3 AM). Over 200 museums, galleries, and cultural spaces across Buenos Aires open their doors for free with special exhibitions, live music, and performances. Free shuttle buses connect venues across the city. The most popular museums (MALBA, Bellas Artes, Museo de Arte Moderno) have long queues; plan your route to start at lesser-known venues and hit the big ones after midnight when crowds thin. The official app with maps and schedules is released in October.
Campeonato Abierto de Polo (Argentine Open Polo Championship)
November to early December. The most prestigious polo tournament in the world takes place at the Campo Argentino de Polo in Palermo (Avenida del Libertador 4096). Matches run on weekends. Tickets range from 2,000-8,000 ARS (US$2-8). The final in early December is a major social event. Even if you know nothing about polo, the atmosphere and setting are worth experiencing.
