Where to Stay in Cinque Terre: Best Villages & Hotels by Budget

Italy β€Ί Liguria β€Ί Cinque Terre

Accommodation in the Cinque Terre ranges from cliffside rooms with sea views in Vernazza to beachfront hotels in Monterosso. The key decision is which village to sleep in: each has a different atmosphere, accessibility profile, and price range. Most properties are small, family-run guesthouses or rented rooms rather than large hotels. Book 3 to 6 months ahead for May through September, and 6 to 12 months ahead for August. In winter (November to February), roughly half of all accommodation closes, but those that remain open drop rates by 40 to 50 percent.

Where to Stay in Cinque Terre: Monterosso al Mare

Monterosso has the widest range of accommodation in the Cinque Terre, from basic guesthouses in the old town to three-star beachfront hotels in Fegina. The split between old town (Centro Storico) and Fegina matters: old town rooms tend to be smaller and reached by stairs, with more character and proximity to restaurants; Fegina rooms are more modern, closer to the beach, and have easier access from the station. Parking is available at the Fegina car park (15 euros per day) or the Loreto car park above the old town (20 euros per day with shuttle).

Suggested Hotels in Monterosso al Mare

Hotel Porto Roca

Perched on the clifftop between Monterosso old town and Vernazza, this is the closest thing to a luxury hotel in the Cinque Terre, with a terraced restaurant overlooking the sea and a private sunbathing platform on the rocks. Best for couples wanting a special-occasion stay with a panoramic sea view. Check rates and availability

Hotel Marina

A solid mid-range choice at the eastern end of Fegina beach, with 24 rooms, a rooftop terrace for breakfast, and direct beach access. Rooms are straightforward and clean rather than stylish. Best for families and beach-focused travellers who want convenience over character. Check rates and availability

Affittacamere Lo Spizzo

Simple, clean guesthouse in the old town with five rooms, some with small balconies facing the narrow caruggi. No lift and narrow stairs, so pack light. Best for budget travellers who want to be in the historic centre at an honest price. Check rates and availability

Where to Stay in Cinque Terre: Vernazza

Vernazza accommodation is nearly all small B&Bs and rented rooms in the upper alleyways. Sea-view rooms exist but cost a premium and book out months in advance. Note that Vernazza has no hotels in the traditional sense, and almost all rooms are reached by stairs. The train station is a 3-minute walk, but with luggage, the alleys and steps can be a challenge. Pack a backpack rather than a wheeled suitcase if staying here.

Suggested Hotels in Vernazza

La Mala

The most upmarket accommodation in Vernazza, with just three contemporary-styled rooms in a building tucked behind the main street. Rooms are sleek and minimalist with good bathrooms. Best for design-conscious couples who want comfort in the most photogenic village. Check rates and availability

Camere Nicolina

A long-running family guesthouse with six rooms spread across two buildings near the train station, offering straightforward rooms with private bathrooms at fair prices for Vernazza. The terrace of the upper building has harbour glimpses. Best for travellers who want to be in Vernazza without overpaying for the view. Check rates and availability

A Ca da Nonna Di Callo Luca

A basic, well-priced guesthouse with simple rooms and a shared terrace on the upper edge of the village. No frills but clean and friendly. Best for hikers and backpackers who plan to spend all day on the trails and just need a bed. Check rates and availability

Where to Stay in Cinque Terre: Riomaggiore and Manarola

Riomaggiore and Manarola offer a middle ground: more accommodation choice than Corniglia, less tourist infrastructure than Monterosso. Both villages have a selection of guesthouses and B&Bs at similar price points (90 to 200 euros per night). Riomaggiore has the edge for restaurant variety and transport connections, as it is the first stop from La Spezia and has more trains stopping at its station. Manarola has the edge for sheer visual drama. For both, book early: the limited room stock in each village means peak season sells out faster than Monterosso.

Suggested Hotels in Riomaggiore

Locanda Ca dei Duxi

A boutique guesthouse in a renovated historic building on the main street, with six rooms mixing original stone walls and modern bathrooms. One of the few accommodations in the Cinque Terre that feels like a proper small hotel rather than a rented room. Best for couples wanting character and comfort. Check rates and availability

Affittacamere Le Giare

Family-run guesthouse with bright, clean rooms near the top of the village, some with small balconies overlooking the valley. Good value for Riomaggiore and consistently well-reviewed. Best for budget-conscious travellers who still want a private bathroom and a central location. Check rates and availability

Ostello di Corniglia (Budget Alternative)

The only hostel in the Cinque Terre, located in Corniglia in a converted village house with dormitory beds from 25 euros per night and a few private rooms. Clean, social, and with a terrace overlooking the sea. Best for solo travellers and hikers on a tight budget. Check rates and availability
